Barawanw as among the names of
languages spoken by some London school-children identified by the
Multilingual Capital
(2000) survey. This word probably designates the language spoken by the
Baraawe people of the
Brava area of Somalia
who speak a distinctive Bantu language, sometimes called Brava or Bravanese whose Bantu name is
Cimiini. There are
numerous refugees from Brava living in London.
